PHILIPSBURG:--- Police are investigating a serious traffic accident on Bush Road shortly before 4:00 a.m. Monday, November 2, 2026, in which a scooter rider reportedly was struck by a car and subsequently run over by another vehicle.
The Police Force of Sint Maarten (KPSM) said Central Police Dispatch received a report of a man lying on the roadway next to a scooter following an accident. Police patrols, detectives, and Traffic Department personnel responded.
Officers found the man on the side of the road with severe upper-body injuries and no signs of life.
According to preliminary findings, the victim was riding his scooter from the direction of the Prince Bernhard Bridge when a small gray vehicle traveling in the opposite direction reportedly struck him. Initial information suggests a third, unidentified vehicle then ran him over.
Police have not yet established the exact sequence of events or identified all vehicles involved. Traffic Department personnel are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.
