Recognized for producing the Best Chocolate in the Caribbean in both 2025 and 2026, Anguilla Sands & Salts introduces hands-on chocolate making, guided sea salt tasting, and a distinctive chocolate, rum and salt experience.
SOUTH HILL, ANGUILLA:--- Visitors traveling from Sint Maarten and Saint-Martin to neighboring Anguilla have a new opportunity to explore the island beyond its world-famous beaches.
Anguilla Sands & Salts, a locally owned artisan boutique recognized for producing the Best Chocolate in the Caribbean in both 2025 and 2026, is introducing three curated cultural and culinary experiences at its South Hill Village location.
Founded in 2017 by Josveek O. Huligar, Anguilla Sands & Salts has grown from handcrafted sea salt into a distinctive destination celebrating Anguilla's flavors, craftsmanship, and heritage.
The business now produces handcrafted infused sea salts, bean-to-bar dark chocolate, personalized sand jewelry, and natural body care products, all available exclusively in Anguilla.
Two Years of Caribbean Chocolate Recognition
The company's consecutive chocolate honors in 2025 and 2026 represent an important achievement for a small Anguillian producer.
Its locally crafted dark chocolate combines cocoa and sugar sourced from the Dominican Republic with hand-harvested Anguilla sea salt.
The chocolate also tells a story of Caribbean connections, reflecting the history of Anguillans who migrated to the Dominican Republic and worked in industries including sugar and cocoa.
“Receiving recognition for our chocolate two years in a row is an important milestone for our small business,” said founder Josveek O. Huligar. “But we also want people to understand the stories behind what we create. Our new experiences allow visitors to become part of those stories.”
Three Experiences Beyond the Beach
1. Bean to Bar Chocolate Making Class
Guests discover the chocolate-making process, hand-grind cocoa nibs, and create their own personalized 65-gram chocolate bar to take home. The experience introduces the historical relationship between Anguilla and the Dominican Republic through the story of cocoa and chocolate.
2. Salt Tasting Experience
A guided sensory exploration of Anguilla's handcrafted infused sea salts, paired with complementary foods and flavors. Visitors learn about the island's salt-making heritage while discovering how different infusions enhance familiar ingredients.
3. Chocolate, Rum & Salt Experience
A curated tasting bringing together locally handcrafted dark chocolate, Caribbean rum, and Anguilla sea salts. Guests explore the distinctive flavor combinations and sensory characteristics of these Caribbean ingredients.
Each experience lasts approximately 30–45 minutes, making it an attractive addition to a planned Anguilla day trip or longer island holiday.
A Meaningful Piece of Anguilla to Take Home
Beyond its culinary experiences, Anguilla Sands & Salts creates personalized jewelry incorporating sand from Anguilla's beaches. Guests may select a favorite beach or bring their own meaningful sand to commission a unique keepsake.
The boutique also offers eight handcrafted sea salt infusions, locally made dark chocolate, and natural body care products.
All products are available exclusively from the boutique in Anguilla.
Welcoming Visitors from Sint Maarten and Saint-Martin
Located in South Hill Village on Anguilla's main island, the boutique welcomes residents of Sint Maarten and Saint-Martin, day visitors, and travelers enjoying longer stays in Anguilla.
The business also invites charter operators, travel advisors, concierge teams, and excursion organizers to consider its experiences when recommending activities beyond the island's beaches.
Visitors arriving by boat should allow sufficient time for on-island transportation and applicable border formalities.
Anguilla Sands & Salts also hosts Margarita Thursday, a weekly social gathering every Thursday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, featuring tropical margaritas complemented by handcrafted infused sea salts.
“Whether someone comes to Anguilla for a day or an entire holiday, we want them to leave with a meaningful connection to the island,” Huligar added.
