PHILIPSBURG:--- Nation Opportunity Wealth (NOW) Member of Parliament (MP) and former Acting Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sports, Lyndon Lewis, congratulates Terryanne Tondu on her academic achievements. Tondu earned a Bachelor’s degree in International Communication Management from Fontys University and a Master’s degree in Management of Cultural Diversity from Tilburg University.
MP Lewis commended Tondu’s dedication to her education and highlighted the significance of her master’s thesis, which explored how Sint Maarteners navigate identity and belonging within the Dutch Kingdom.
“Terryanne’s accomplishments reflect dedication, perseverance, and a commitment to learning. I am particularly pleased that her research places the experiences of Sint Maarteners at the center of an important conversation about identity, culture, and belonging,” MP Lewis stated.
MP Lewis noted that her chosen research topic offers an opportunity to reflect on how Sint Maarteners understand their place within the Dutch Kingdom while maintaining a connection to their island, heritage, and community.
“Our people have stories and perspectives that deserve to be heard and understood. Research focused on these experiences can encourage meaningful dialogue about who we are and how we relate to the wider Kingdom,” MP Lewis added.
MP Lewis also underscored the value of recognizing academic accomplishments and encouraging others to pursue higher education. He described Tondu’s achievements as an inspiring example for young people working toward their own educational and professional goals.
“I extend my congratulations to Terryanne Tondu and other St. Maarten students here and abroad. I wish you continued success in your future endeavors. May your accomplishments inspire others to pursue their ambitions and recognize the value of their own voices and experiences,” MP Lewis concluded.
