MAHO:--- A male employee suffered severe burns during maintenance work at the Sonesta Maho Resort on Sunday morning, September 20, 2026, according to the Police Force of Sint Maarten (KPSM).
Police officers and emergency medical personnel responded to the resort after receiving a report. The employee was receiving medical attention when they arrived and was later transported for further treatment.
The exact circumstances remain under investigation. Police secured the area and carried out preliminary safety checks. KPSM said there is currently no indication of criminal activity.
The Sint Maarten Fire Department is responsible for investigating the cause and circumstances of the incident. KPSM said it will release further information when available and appropriate, and wished the employee a full recovery.
