PHILIPSBURG:--- Three police officers involved in the fatal shooting of Rudy Benjamin in St. Peters on February 13, 2026, have been summoned to appear before the Court of First Instance on November 13, 2026.
The decision to bring the officers before the court follows a review of the investigation into the deadly incident. The court will consider the findings of the investigation and the evidence presented during the proceedings.
The Landsrecherche Sint Maarten conducted the investigation under the direction of the Prosecutor’s Office Curaçao. Investigators examined the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including the use of force by the three officers.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the Curaçao office was assigned responsibility for the case to safeguard the assessment's independence and objectivity.
With the matter now heading before the court, the Prosecutor’s Office said it will not comment further on the substance of the case at this stage.
