PHILIPSBURG:--- Member of Parliament Raeyhon Peterson and his brother have each been sentenced to 70 hours of community service in connection with a public-violence case stemming from an altercation outside an adult entertainment club in April 2025.
The incident attracted significant public attention after video footage of the confrontation circulated online and prompted an investigation by authorities.
Peterson, a Member of Parliament representing the Party for Progress (PFP), subsequently became the subject of a formal criminal investigation. Because he is a sitting parliamentarian, prosecutors were required to follow the constitutional procedure applicable to Members of Parliament before the case could proceed.
Peterson and his brother were eventually prosecuted in connection with the altercation, with public violence forming the basis of the charges.
Following the court proceedings, both brothers were ordered to complete 70 hours of community service.
