PHILIPSBURG:--- Nation Opportunity Wealth (NOW) Member of Parliament (MP) Lyndon Lewis, has dispatched a letter to the President of Parliament, MP Sarah Wescott-Williams, in pursuant to Article 67 of the Constitution and the Rules of Order of Parliament, requesting an Urgent Public Meeting of Parliament with the Minister of Justice, Nathalie Tackling to address the alarming increase in traffic accidents and fatalities occurring throughout Sint Maarten and other justice related matters.
Over the past months, the country has witnessed a troubling trend involving motor vehicle and motorcycle accidents, many of which have resulted in serious injuries and the unfortunate loss of life. Recent incidents have raised serious concerns among the public regarding reckless driving, intoxicated driving, speeding, and the blatant disregard for the Traffic Ordinance and road safety regulations, MP Lewis stated. The request for the urgent meeting was supported by MP Omar Ottley and MP Francisco Lacroes.
