PHILIPSBURG:--- On the morning of Thursday, June 12, 2025, tensions rose in Philipsburg as police efforts to apprehend a suspect turned into a dramatic chase. Personnel from the Detective Department of the Police Force of Sint Maarten (KPSM) attempted to execute an arrest warrant against a man identified by the initials G.P., wanted in connection with a case of attempted manslaughter and severe ill-treatment causing bodily harm.
Following a tip regarding G.P.’s location, detectives moved to Philipsburg, where the suspect was sighted. However, as officers approached to carry out the arrest, G.P. fled on foot. Law enforcement pursued the individual, firing warning shots in an effort to dissuade him from escaping. Despite their attempts, G.P. managed to evade capture by entering a vehicle and speeding off towards Fort Willem.
Efforts to locate G.P. and the vehicle have been unsuccessful so far. A search operation is currently underway, and KPSM is requesting the public's assistance in tracking the suspect. Authorities have urged community members not to confront G.P., but instead to report any sightings or information regarding his whereabouts immediately.
