The Hague/PHILIPSBURG:--- The Kingdom Council of Ministers has officially appointed Manon Ridderbeks as the new Chief Prosecutor of Sint Maarten. This decision was confirmed on May 28, 2025, with Ridderbeks set to assume office on August 1. She will succeed Hieke Buist, who will transition to serve as Deputy Chief Prosecutor at the National Prosecutor’s Office in the Netherlands starting July 1.
This appointment comes as a significant step in ensuring continuity and leadership within the Prosecutor’s Office of Sint Maarten. Ridderbeks, currently serving as a senior prosecutor at the Limburg Prosecutor’s Office, is recognized for her extensive experience and prior connection to Sint Maarten. Having previously worked as a prosecutor on the island, she is well-acquainted with the region and its judicial infrastructure.
Ridderbeks’ predecessor, Hieke Buist, has played a vital role in the Prosecutor's Office and will now take on her new responsibilities in the Netherlands. The transition reflects a seamless change in leadership, aimed at maintaining the integrity and operational efficiency of the judicial system.
