Scooter accident on W.J.A. Brouwers Road — May 5, 2025
On Monday, May 5, 2025, at approximately 5:20 p.m., police responded to a traffic accident on W.J.A. Brouwers Road, just after the intersection with Welgelegen Road. A male and female scooter rider were injured after being struck by an SUV.
Preliminary investigations indicate the SUV driver made a left turn across the lane, failing to yield the right of way to the oncoming scooter while attempting to park at a nearby business. The resulting collision caused both scooter riders to fall from their vehicle.
Emergency personnel treated the male and female victims for lacerations to their lower bodies. Both were wearing helmets, which likely helped prevent more severe injuries. The KPSM Traffic Department continues to investigate the exact cause of the accident and is gathering further statements and evidence.
