PHILIPSBURG:--- "I was deeply saddened to learn of the tragic roof collapse at the Jet Set Club in Santo Domingo. On behalf of the National Alliance and myself, I want to extend heartfelt thoughts and prayers to the families of those who lost their lives, those injured, and everyone affected by this devastating event.
Many of us here in Sint Maarten have close ties to the Dominican Republic, whether through family, friendship, or shared community. So when something this heartbreaking happens, it hits home for all of us.
I also want to take a moment to recognize the brave men and women on the ground, first responders and rescue workers, who are working around the clock to help those in need. Your courage does not go unnoticed.
To our Dominican brothers and sisters both abroad and right here in Sint Maarten, know that you are not alone. We stand with you during this painful time and are here to support you however we can.
Let’s all continue to check in on one another, offer support where possible, and lift up those who are grieving.
May the souls of the departed rest in peace, and may strength and healing reach every person affected."
