~The First Big Man in the New Gunners Team~
PHILIPSBURG:--- The 2.03m tall EU player Shaquille ROMBLEY strengthens the UNGER STEEL Gunners for the next two seasons “on the board”.
The 26-year-old Dutchman comes from the Caribbean island of Sint Maarten, which belongs to the Kingdom of the Netherlands. It wasn’t until the age of 17 that Shaquille, who also attracted attention as a volleyball player, came to basketball, played in high school in the USA and then in college, most recently in 20/21 for Lincoln Memorial University in NCAA Div.II.
In the 21/22 season, Rombley came to Germany to the Telekom Baskets Bonn, where he was mainly active for their second team. In the past 22/23 season, Shaq moved to the Itzehoe Eagles in Germany’s ProB, where he scored a remarkable 25 points per game (15% 62FGP, 2% 30FGP) and 3.8 rebounds per game in 5 games. Despite his 15 points per game, Shaq is considered a good defensive player, who can also play above ring level thanks to his athleticism and also set pace on the field.
“We’ve had Shaq on our radar for a while. He is a very interesting, athletic player who can fill both positions on the board. He has gained important experience in Germany over the last two years, and now he is ready for the next step. I’m looking forward to him.
