Government starts court case in Vineyard Heights land issuance.

jurendydoran26062022PHILIPSBURG:--- Minister of VROMI Egbert Jurendy Doran said in response to questions regarding the court case government initiated regarding the Vineyard Heights land issuance in 2016 that this case was in keeping with the judgment of the court where seven persons had taken the government to court claiming that had letters of promises to obtain land Over the bank by the then Minister of VROMI.
Doran explained that the court already ruled in favor of the government and stated that procedures were not followed, however, in the same verdict the court also ruled that a regular case should be filed with the Court of First Instance where the case could have been discussed in detail before a full verdict could be rendered. He said the verdict was handed down earlier this year however, none of the plaintiffs did file an appeal. The Minister of VROMI said after seeking legal advice and also in keeping with the verdict the Council of Ministers has decided to pursue the courts in order for a detailed verdict to be issued. He said that it is not customary for government to initiate such cases but the Council of Ministers felt it necessary to seek clarity.
