PHILIPSBURG:--- In November 2021, CaribResearch has completed its 2022-2026 research agenda. The Agenda contains 16 research priorities, all focused on the central theme: "Re-imagining our realities: Strengthening our capacity to deal with crises". The priorities are divided into 5 research areas: 1) History, Construction of Society and Welfare and Well-being (4 priorities); (2) Governance, Institutions, and Integrity (3 priorities); 3) Economy, Finance and Entrepreneurship (3 priorities); 4) Education, Training and Language (3 priorities) and 5) Environment, Technology, and Progress (3 priorities).
The Agenda offers in-depth insight into the central theme and the aspects that play a central role in it. These aspects are 'crisis', 'crisis management, sovereignty' and 'resilience'. The Agenda also describes the type of knowledge that should be provided through research and for which social organization this knowledge should be relevant in what way. Finally, the Agenda provides a broad discussion of the 5 research areas and discusses the research priorities per area: the urgent reason for each priority, which knowledge is urgently needed for which organization, and how this priority contributes to the central theme.
