Long prison sentences demanded for co-defendants in MARS investigation.

Suspects in the MARS investigation, K.S. and T.F., were tried in court today, Wednesday, May 15th, 2019. They are being held responsible for the murder of two young men Sarante Diaz and Rosario Contreras on December 5th, 2016. Their bodies were discovered in the Belair lagoon on August 1st, 2017.

The MARS investigation was started subsequent to a missing person report filed. Both victims were last seen alive on December 5th, 2016. As the investigation progressed one of the suspects directed detectives to the location where the bodies were dumped. The investigation also revealed that the two victims were killed in a room at the Simpson Bay Resort.

As a result of K.F., his brother T.F. and ex-girlfriend K.S. were arrested. The co-suspects were trialed in the Court of First Instance on Sint Maarten, today, Wednesday. Suspect K.F. is momentarily serving prison time in The Netherlands for a murder he committed some years ago. Revision of facts in the case took place at the District Court of Arnhem in The Netherlands on March 1, 2019. K.F. was also tried for escaping the Point Blanche Prison on Sint Maarten on February 15th, 2016. The Public Prosecution Service demanded a life sentence for K.F.

The Public Prosecution Service, today, presented its evidence proving T.F.’s involvement in the manslaughter and murder of both victims, the removal of their bodies and firearm possession. The Public Prosecution Service also presented evidence proving suspect K.S.’ complicity in the ordeal.

A 30-year prison sentence was demanded for T.F. and 10 years imprisonment for K.S.
