~ Top Cop claimed stolen vehicle was impounded, but the story falls apart, since when stolen vehicles are parked in front of police headquarters.? ~
PHILIPSBURG: --- The owner of AAA Car Rental found one of his vehicles that was stolen over five months ago nicely parked up in front of the Philipsburg Police Headquarters on Sunday morning. The owner who filed a report when the vehicle was stolen was at the Philipsburg Police Station on Sunday to file yet another report about another vehicle that was stolen this weekend when he discovered that the vehicle parked up in front of the police station bearing number plate M-1897 was one of his vehicles.
The businessman alerted police that the vehicle that is parked in front of the station is one of his vehicles that was stolen but instead of investigating the police demanded that the businessman produced a police report instead of the vehicle registration documents.
SMN News was contacted by the owner who said he is of the opinion that an officer might be driving the stolen vehicle and as such he would stake out the vehicle to see who exactly the driver was. SMN News contacted Chief Commissioner of Police Carl John and asked that the number plate M 1897 that is on a grey KIA Picanto be checked since it’s a stolen vehicle that is nicely parked in front of the Police Headquarters. John upon investigating said the vehicle was impounded by police when police officers saw the vehicle driving around with one number plate. John said the plate M-1897 does not belong to the vehicle but in fact, it was also stolen. The top cop said the person that was found driving the vehicle told police that he did not have the documents for the vehicle the night it was stopped, he said that person was supposed to go back to the police headquarters with the documents for the vehicle but that never happened. John did not want to divulge further details even though SMN News reporter asked the top cop since when does police park impounded vehicles in front of the police station? SMN News reporter even asked the top cop when exactly the vehicle was impounded and who does the number plate belong to none of which Chief Commissioner of Police Carl Joh was willing to divulge. While the top cop said the vehicle was stopped by police one night because it had on only one number plate, photographs taken on Sunday showed the vehicle had both number plates on and it appeared as though information on this stolen vehicle is concealed. Hopefully, the top cop will dig deeper and get accurate information regarding the stolen vehicle.
SMN News learned from the businessman that police claimed that they impounded the vehicle on October 5th, almost a month ago and they were waiting for the person to return with the documents for the vehicle. The businessman said that while the top cop told him the vehicle was stopped because it had on one number plate, photographs taken from the vehicle on Sunday morning showed the vehicle had on both front and back number plates, therefore the story told by the top cop to the owner of the vehicle and SMN News is not completely truthful and warrants further investigation especially since there is a surge in stolen vehicles. Questions are now being asked as to who exactly is driving the stolen vehicle, and in whose name the vehicle is registered, and exactly how the person managed to register a stolen vehicle.?
The businessman felt that there seems to be some sort of cover-up since at no time he or his business was notified that his vehicle was found, most importantly police did not say in whose name the vehicle was registered since it had both number plates M-1897.
