Issuance of Building Permits to certain contractors gets preference.
PHILIPSBURG:--- As the investigation into the alleged corruption surrounding the BTP building and finances intensifies, questions arise about the legality of the building permit that was issued for the BTP building.
The contractor and owner of Taliesin Construction, who sold the building to BTP is presently under investigation by TBO team due to alleged wrongdoings regarding the sale and purchase of the BTP building. A top Civil Servant within the Ministry of VROMI is also implicated in this ordeal allegedly has close ties with Taliesin Construction and is also allegedly on the payroll of Taliesin Construction.
Questions are being asked regarding the legality of the building permit as those in authority wants to know if all requirements were met as stipulated in the Building Ordinance such as sufficient parking, building heights and also the process that was undertaking prior to the issuance of the building permit.
It is alleged that the top Civil Servant within the Ministry of VROMI has been facilitating the process in issuing Building Permits to contractors that he is closely affiliated with, while putting the head of the permits department under pressure because the person is not playing his games or music when it comes to the handling of building permits.
Earlier this year when the present head of the Permits Department within VROMI didn’t cooperate with his superior, the top Civil Servant sent a complaint to the Council of Ministers and the Minister of VROMI mentioning that he has no confidence in the present head of Permits department, so far, the Council of Ministers have not reacted.
SMN will be monitoring the developments with regards to the ongoing investigation as it is understood that the Ministry of VROMI finds itself in the web of the current investigations.
