Coast Guard issues fines to boat owners during patrol.

lockdown12092018PHILIPSBURG:--- On Tuesday morning the Coast Guard conducted a patrol of the Simpson Bay lagoon code-named Operation Lockdown. During that patrol, a fine was issued to a boat SHIELA -2 due to the lack of registration papers. The boat also had no flare on board the vessel.
The captain received a summons for the lack of the flares and for having an invalid registration card.

As the operation continued the Coast Guard the “Sea Breeze” which was coming from Anguilla to St. Martin with 6 persons on board, including a baby. The boat was transporting an unknown amount of lobsters on board. The captain did not have an export license from the Anguillan government. The captain received a fine of 360, - guilders and an additional fine of 75, - guilders from the public prosecutor for not having a fire extinguisher on board. The fine was paid on the spot.
