~ Delayed Promotion was given posthumously~
PHILIPSBURG: --- The community of St. Maarten joined members of the Police Force of St. Maarten (KPSM) and family members of fallen officer Quintin Rogers. The homegoing ceremony was held on Thursday.
The late Quintin Rogers served as a Police Officer for 41 years, while being a dedicated cop and family man he also suffered silently, as he was denied his hard earned promotion which was given to him posthumously.
Quin as he is known as in the St. Maarten community served as Acting Chief Inspector of Police for 15 years, 12 of those years he spent in St. Eustatius while he has been waiting for the last 3 years on St. Maarten for his promotion but that did not come until he died at home last week.
On Thursday almost everyone that knew the Rogers family murmured when they heard the last radio call during the farewell ceremony in front of the Philipsburg Police Headquarters. During that last call the late officer was given the honors as Chief Inspector of Police while he was also pinned as a Chief Inspector for his home going ceremony. Even in the Roman Catholic Church on Front Street where the official ceremony was held almost all his colleagues that worked with the late Rogers spoke out because of the injustice done against the men in blue.
Minister of Justice Cornelius de Weever honored the request of KPSM to promote the late Quintin Rogers.
Members of the Council of Ministers, and several Members of Parliament were also among those that paid their last respects to the Rogers family who all dedicated their lives to serving St. Maarten as Officers of the Law.
