LIAT Assess Airport Operations Into St. Maarten and Tortola.

liatfillin07092017ST. JOHN’S, Antigua:--- LIAT has begun to assess airport operations into the destinations of St. Maarten and Tortola, British Virgin Islands which were severely affected by the passage of Hurricane Irma. The Princess Juliana International Airport in St. Maarten and the Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport in Tortola suffered extensive damage and at this time are closed to commercial operations.
LIAT is continually assessing the situation in both destinations and are working with authorities to set a time line to re-establishing commercial operations. We do not expect to establish regular commercial flights in and out of these destinations within the next two weeks. LIAT is currently working with relief organizations to move personnel and supplies in and out of these affected areas.
The Management and staff of LIAT will continue to work to support the people of St. Maarten and the British Virgin Islands especially at this difficult time.
LIAT will continue to update the public on the restoration of services to these destinations and will issue further updates via its website (www.liat.com) and social media platforms.
