Story time with Ombudsman this Saturday at the Library.

nildaarduin08052014PHILIPSBURG:--- The Philipsburg Jubilee Library will be hosting its weekly, story time at 11:00am on Saturday, May 10.

This Saturday's, storyteller, Ombudsman, Dr. Nilda Arduin-Lynch, will be reading from one of the library's children's books called, "Prinses Ivana", written by Ombudsman Arduin-Lynch's sister, Hilli Arduin, about a princess who wouldn't comb her hair.

"Children are important and we have to do everything to stimulate them. I will always make time to engage with children. As a former teacher I underscore the importance of developing our children's vocabulary through reading. It stimulates their mind and their imagination. It is also very important for parents to keep inspiring our youth. Parents should engage in the activities of their children, lead by example, share and promote the experience of reading by accompanying their kids to the library", shared Lynch-Arduin.

Every Saturday, the library conducts story time sessions for visiting children. Joseanne Peterson, the coordinator for the Saturday story times sessions, with the assistance of Jamila Ruan and Lysandra William, have been volunteering their time for this project since January.

"I would like to encourage parents to come with their children and enjoy the story telling sessions as well. Often, children feel more comfortable sitting with their parents," commented story time coordinator, Joseanne Peterson.

After story time, children will be engaged in an arts and crafts activity and provided with fruit juices, graciously donated by Marique Capriles and Office World.
