GREAT BAY:--- Minister of Public Health Social Development & Labor, Cornelius De Weever recently approved the establishment of a register for Collective Labour Agreements and the associated Ministerial decree and registration form.
Minister Cornelius De Weever is encouraging all unions and companies to register their CLAs. The CLA drive starts today.
Registering Collective Labour Agreements(CLA's) is essential in identifying and understanding the various trends within the labour market as well as being able to develop policies that can stimulate environments where "decent work" is norm. By monitoring and managing the registration of CLA's, a database will be created which would enable the Ministry to better analyze these trends on the labour market. This initiative will also promote transparency for government as well as for the businesses and trade unions, by providing access to the list of all Collective Labour Agreements.
"Once again we are moving in the right direction, as we continue to put people first, as this registration process will enable us to make policies to address the situations of our labor market," said Minister of Public Health Social Development & Labor, Cornelius De Weever.
The legislation on CLA's was legally established on May 12, 1958. This legislation describes the basics of such an agreement and makes it obligatory to provide the Minister of Public Health Social Development & Labour based on article 23 an authenticated copy of a signed CLA. There is to date no known regulation or stipulations on the procedures of registering CLA's. Keeping the importance of having CLA's registered into consideration it is recommended that these procedures are now put in place by means of the Ministerial decree and the registration form.
