Willemstad --- The Parliament of the Netherlands Antilles unanimously passed the federal ordinance creating the possibility of early elections and other major constitutional changes. The federal ordinance- also referred to as "Duncan's Law" – gives the Island Councils of St. Maarten and Curacao the authority to dissolve themselves and hold early elections after the approval of their respective draft constitutions.
Additionally the ordinance changes the Island Regulation (ERNA) to allow the Executive Council of St. Maarten to expand to seven Commissioners and increases the Island Council of St. Maarten to fifteen members after the next elections.
Moreover, the ordinance introduces dualism on the island territory level. Dualism entails that a member of the Executive Council can no longer be a member of the Island Council.
The faction of the National Alliance, Senators Rodolphe Samuel and George Pantophlet, introduced an initiative amendment to the ordinance – supported by a wide majority of Parliament – to create the authority for St. Maarten to - by Island Ordinance- regulate wages, attendance fees and other remunerations for Island Council members. A similar change of the island regulation was also introduced for Saba, St. Eustatius, and Bonaire. By this change of the Island Regulation members of the Island Councils can now be full-time and salaried Parliamentarians. The Minister of Constitutional and Home Affairs adopted the amendment making it part of the ordinance.
The vote of Parliament- approving the draft ordinance and its amendments - was carried by twenty two (22) in favor and zero (0) against, thus unanimous.
The Prime Minister and Minister Duncan heartily thanked the Parliamentarians for their unanimous support of the legislation and the further empowerment of the Island Territories in the exercise of their right of self -determination. The draft legislation is a further necessary and important step in the constitutional process; moving St. Maarten closer to country status.

I believe that congratulations are in order to the members of the Mational Alliance that wer sworn in and I wish them God's speed while executing their tasks ahead. I believe that they are quite able to finish the job of the dismantling of the Neth Antilles and as long as they let absolutely nothing deter them I know that they will be successful in complying with the wishes of the people of Sint Maarten. God's Grace and Guidance be upon all of you.

To 'Congratulations',

With great respect to your comments, they nevertheless sound very reminiscent of the followers of the late cult-leader, Jim Jones, disguised as some 'Savior' of sorts back then in the 1970's.
Because his followers, were simply 'BLIND' in their loyalty, they never thought of even questioning his motives and instructions.
So, they drank the concoction he prepared for them, which was laced with poison and hundreds perished in a most disgraceful and dumb manner.
Among them, innocent babies and children whose parents had also allowed to be sacrificed based on their total, blind loyalty to Mr. JONES.
God knows, how those innocent children are still turning in their graves, because their parents also figured that Mr. JONES simply knew what was best for them and needed not their 'inquisitiveness' about what he really was all about.
Still many people have not learned from this type of ma*s control and ma*s hypnotism, so they continue to completely surrender their own personal responsibility and independent mind to some-one else.
It can turn out to be a very dangerous game of 'Russian-roulette'.
Blindly drinking the 10-10-10 'concoction' is no different and for many thy cry shall be 'too late'
The motto of my comments is, loyalty to MAN or POLITICIANS can be very loft, yes, but NEVER forget to also VERIFY MAN'S intention, it is your obligation, because so shall be the consequences as well..
As far as I am concerned, to date I have not yet heard one single word from the politicians, including of the NA, what is in '10-10-10' for the native St. Martiners or other Antilleans residing on the 'Friendly (???)island'.
However, last week I heard the honorable Minister Roland DUNCAN in fact bluntly state that he does not know WHO or WHAT is a St. Martiner and even if they existed, he will not allow for them to be recognized and their rights protected in the constitution.
While, I KNOW that there are many St. Martiners in the NA, so-far I have not heard even ONE stand up and question this gentleman, let alone BLAST him for in fact publicly betraying the natives of this island.
So, dear 'Congratulations', if you choose to BLINDLY follow the NA party-line, even at your own demise and that of your children, God bless you.
I will pa*s on this one for sure, because while I do respect ALL politicians, my highest loyalty is most definitely NOT to them, but to the St. Martin people...after God of course !
Looking forward to all 'hell broking lose' on me now, because do not not hide my identity, O remain.

Leopold JAMES
And still...proud, native-indigenous St. Martiner without apologies to Roland DUNCAN or any other man or woman.
