jeffry15022010Philipsburg:---The number ten candidate of the Democratic Party Jeffry Richardson has submitted his letter of resignation to the Democratic Party after serving for eight years. In a press release Richardson said he was a candidate in the 2007 and 2010 elections for the Island Council and the Parliament of the Netherlands Antilles respectively and was also a member of the Board in the past.
In ones life there comes a point when one must take decisions in order for one to move forward and make room for being able to work in an atmosphere where you can better serve your people. One needs to feel a sort of comfort to decide to continue working with persons that you feel does not have your best interest which is the case in this instance.
As a politician he said he believes that it is fair and ethical to inform the public that he has tendered his resignation from the Democratic Party in a letter that was submitted to the leader of the party. Running for public office is a public issue and all major decisions that a politician takes should be transparent by informing the population of those decisions.
After giving this situation a careful thought this decision was taken and he hopes that it will be understood by all his supporters. There's an old saying that goes: "Who in the kitchen feels the heat".

Richardson said he has worked also as a support staff of two different Commissioners of the Democratic Party which he enjoyed and it was an honor to do so because he had the opportunity to serve the people of St. Maarten by assisting those Commissioners with their daily tasks. Having done that, Richardson said he was able to experience the way Government functions. This experience allowed him to better serve the public with the experience that he gained. Richardson said he also obtained a bachelor degree in Public Administration.

He also thanked the leadership of the party and all the Commissioners that he has assisted in office for the past 14 years for allowing him to serve the people of St. Maarten. Being a part of the Democratic Party was the right thing to do at the time he said. However he believes that it is imperative for him to move on, but he intends to serve the people of St. Maarten from another perspective which he intends to make public in a subsequent press release.

Unquote.

This is exactly what it is all about. Everyone want to take care of their best interest. What about the best interest of the people? Mr. Jeffrey, you can take your x amount of votes and stick it where the sun don't shine. If YOU were so good you would have pulled votes. It is not the DP, it is you who are the failure. You wanted and you did not get, so you see what Laveist got and decided to try a thing. Good riddance to you.

To: sxmpoliticains are crap ! are you so stupid!!!!! Loyalty!!!! Excuse me but I thought it was about St. Maarten!!! There is where the loyalty show lie!!!!!!! I thought it was having a good environment for our children. I thought it was about making St. Maarten a better place for us all but for you its about being loyal even if that person or party do not deserve it.

DP ruin St. Maarten! We need to vote for people who have the interest of SXM at their heart and not vote because we are loyal. In this situation loyalty is not needed!!!!!! Its about the right person for the right job. If you can't do the job you have to go...its not personal...its just that you are not fit for the job!!! How can you be loyal to someone or a party who don't do their job? The loyalty you are talking about do not fit in this situation. We vote for who can do the job and people should be in politics for the people of St. Maarten and not for their group party. If DP does not fit this man needs and if he cannot do his job because they are holding him back...then he should move on! Why stay loyal to people who do not care about you? Why stay loyal to a party when you can't do the things you promise to the voter? Should you be loyal to your party or to the people of St. Maarten? Do you work for your party or do you work for the people of St. Maarten? Loyalty have nothing to do with this!!!!!

Wow, Wow, let us take a very objective view to this resignation, could it be that he really wants to move forward or he really wants a change. It really doesn't matter what the reason(s) is/are he reserves the right to make a change. He didn't discriminate against DP neither did he cite any reasons within the party that led to his resignation, thus why should we be angry at his decision.

It's sad when civilize people(at least we should be) talked about loyalty to a political party. There should be no such thing; loyalty should be to the St. Maarten people. Any politician that put their party before the people of St. Maarten doesn't deserve my vote. If DP, NA. and PPD are not doing a good job when they are entrusted with the electorates vote they should be punished in the next election, that's the only way we can ensure that they take the people's interests at heart.

What Jeffrey did should be commended highly. I think that everyone reserves the right to make choices in life and if those choices do not work out the are still intitled to move on. And if that choice according to them is still not working out, then they should move on again. At least they are trying. Those of you critisizing are sitting back hiding behind a computer so that nobody can see you when you throw stones and hide your hand behind your back. Everybody is going to leave the DP. They and their leader are a waste of time right now. Even some of the new candidates cannot believe what they got themselves into with the DP. Some of them are asking, who send them. So Jeffrey, to you I say my brother, move on whenever you feel like doing it whenever the people that you are a*sociated with are not working for the best interest of the Sint Maarten people (you ofcourse being one of them)
They just have their cronies writing crap because they feel bad that they keep getting so much blows from everybody and they do not know where to turn. But let me tell you something. Nobody can tell you anything about yourself that you do not already once it is true. And when the put stories together in order to get sensation, then leave them up to God, because you cannot fight the blogs. Stay good and stay Focus.
