Well if the police want help they should look at CSI, Law in Order or 24 those series on TV my give them more clue than the public you can learn from does shows.

in my opinion, and this my opinion..crime should be solved much earlier in order to sedn a clear message to the bandits, to let them know don't try this hear. The police lab should be better equipt, we are not a third world country , hand to mouth that we can't have the necessary equipments. Common...We are tired, I dont say the police is not doing a good job..they just don't have the equipments to help them, more efficiently with their work. Are you people really thinking before you write your comments? O.k., so for years our police dept. cannot solve crimes, "might" be a fact. However, they are working with what they have, which is extremely little. And yes, there might be some scum bags on the police force but what about all the many others who are trying to protect and serve us?

This is exactly the main problem we have why today crime is so rampant and difficult to solve. Too many people prefer to fight the police rather than to fight the criminals and crime. Why don't our children snitch on those who are trouble makers? Because they learn from their parents and surroundings to keep their mouths shut or you will be hurt or killed. REALITY, you will be hurt or killed anyhow, even if you keep your mouth shut.

Criminals now commit their crimes in high day light amongst hundreds of people, why? Because they know that no one will cooperate with the police anyhow. Continue bashing the police, one day it will be you or your loved one being murdered and no one will help you either because they have to bash the police rather than helping them bring the murderer to justice.

Some of you are defending the Police Force and blaming the population. Fact of the matter is we do have a role to play but we have more unsolved murders than solved ones.

The Dutch Police should take a page out of the Gendarmes book.
When I go to the French side I see the Gendarmes patrolling everyday. I have NEVER seen the police patrolling Dutch Quarter for example. The presence has to be seen, the criminal must be able to say "If I rob this place there is a chance the police will be right around the corner."
They need to do training exercises I see the VKS on the road running many times and I have never seen them, most of them are overweight.
Most of the times you see a Police officer they are driving past you with the exception of the "bike patrols" which was a step in the right direction.
The police have brought in many "more experienced" people but yet they have not improved.
Majority of the time the criminals are never caught due to a lack of investigative resources and skills.
They spend most of their time arguing about benefits and position rather than doing their job.
Police officers are failing to do their job and even if they do their job they do not need a pat on the back and it seems like that is what they are looking for.
Police officers "put their life on the line" but when last has one of them died on the job?? When last was one of them shot??
Recent advances in technology have decreased the chances of dying on the job or even getting injured.
They have more benefits that some of us in other job sectors have.
They are always calling for the public to help solve crimes; because they need us but maybe we don't need them maybe we should solve the crimes ourselves.
Like I said a majority of the crimes go unsolved and I don't applaud failure.

Then you say there are more unsolved crimes than those that have been solved. Well, just do your research on the rest of the world, including the USA, who has all of the most modern equipments and facilities to help them solve crimes. I am sure that you will find that only a mere 20% of all crimes are solved within the first 5 years.

Do you look at shows like America most wanted? What is that all about? Just to show a picture of the suspects you feel? NO, they are asking the general public for their a*sistance in solving crimes they could not solve as yet and reporting criminals who are on the loose. You applaud America but when they try the same thing here they (our police officers) are crucified.

Don't blame the police officer who has a job just like you, blame the Central (federal) Government who are neglecting our critical situation, blame our senators who have to push for our rights, blame the Chief of police who should be on their backs at all times to upgrade our police force, blame the Justice system who sets criminals free because they stayed in the police cells too long, blame us, the general public, who refuse to cooperate with the police officers.

A regular "cop" on the force has very little power to insist that upgrades are done. They ARE putting their lives in danger for us, a bunch of ungrateful citizens. Have your children go away and study police forensic. There are many sectors in the police force which we do not have and which would help us to upgrade the force. Do your part so tomorrow we will have a police force we can have confidence in. But for now, get whoever is in charge to enforce the a*sistance of the VKS. Do you really think it is the police officer who has the power to do that? You speak of the Gendarmes? You better believe they have their snitches. The French citizens have guts and don't hesitate to report any information they have, unlike us on the Dutch side, a bunch of cowards who want to blame everyone else for our shortcomings.

While I do not applaud any failure, I do applaud those officers who try their best to deal with the rising crime situation under these circumstances. I can go on and on but I guess some people have so much hatred for police officers that no matter what is said they just won’t get it. Anyhow, I am done with this topic. You say that they are putting their lives on the line and I say when last was a Police officer injured on duty.

In America Most Wanted they show you a picture of the criminal and ask that you call a number if you see or may have been in contact with that person......
In SXM they show u NOTHING and ask you to solve the crime FOR THEM!!!!!!!!.....this is not the SAME.
In Americas Most Wanted they know who the culprit is.....but they can't FIND THEM......in SXM they KNOW NOTHING!!!!!!
I mentioned the FRENCH SIDE. Which is right next door and I know for a fact their solved crimes are above 20%. You are right they don’t have power, but teachers don't have much power either....but they get what they want. I do have a job and I DO my job as a matter of fact I have TWO jobs which I do.... without complaints. I lift weights everyday.....I can say with absolute certainty that I am in better shape than those officers. I am handicapped physically and I can say that I go far beyond my limits to do something. I don't see my disability as an excuse for not getting my work done and I never use it as an excuse.
You make excuses for them in a sense you are right they don't have much power.....but they do have enough to find themselves in a GYM. They have enough to patrol more often than the gendarmes.
DO what you CAN and the citizens will help you with WHAT you can't.
