You are going by romours you are hearing, which you said has not beened confirmed by any authorities, however you still go and put the man pucture up. If nothing comes out of this, i hope you will be able to live with yourself as you say you a journalist. This is very poor work. If he is guilty thats one thing, but to do what you did is just unprofessional.

Put their picture up. Too much tings a gwan in this place. The police and Prosecutors think the public is stupid. Certain people they reveal info and others they are tight lipped.

dont be putting names and pictures if the guy is not guilty. that is called discrediting a man.when all this is clear and he is proven innocent,he should sue all the media that smeared his name.

SMN News please GET PROFESSIONAL! It seems like your source(s) is not the right sources. You are just giving wrong news from the beginning to the end. And then allowing some DISTASTEFUL comments to be seen and read by the public. Because you allow it. You heard about professionalism but you are no where close to it. Some people will write unnecessary
crap, but atleast I think you heard about "editing" . I am not acquainted with the victim and suspects whoever they may be.
But think about their families, they read also., God forbid, you would not like anyone putting distasteful and unnecessary comments on the news-web about your family that the whole world would see. If you love what you do, again be professional and clean about it.

Think sense before you write nonesense

I read all the comments today and yesterday, and I personally did not leave one yesterday. Some of those comments were plain out disrespectful and I saw many comments saying that SMN News is wrong for publishing them and in a sense they are.....but it got me thinking that SMN News is not the only person to blame.....yesterday I didn't read one comment telling the people who wrote those comments that they are small minded. Many of the "offensive" comments were about the officer's homosexuality rather than the fact that he "might" have killed someone. That is small mindedness. Another thing the article has many aspects that are based on rumors and a lot of us (the readers) were upset about this stating that they were not "FACTS". However I remember last year and maybe some of you should check the archive about the "Rigobert" murder and I remember reading early on in the investigation that the gendarmes were "tight lipped" and SMN News mention that "Sharpless" was being questioned and the gendarmes refused to comment. And I wrote a comment saying that writing an article based on rumors was unprofessional......and two days later "Sharpless" confessed to the murder. When I logged on to this site.... and read in the news papers that "Sharpless confessed.....I felt like an idiot. Can you see the similarities between this situation and that one? My point is that just because it's a rumor or the police doesn't confirm it. It doesn't mean it's not a FACT. Time will tell us the facts. It might be a fact.....but I will see when they come to a conclusion.....if they ever do.....

I hope those who were hurt because of this reporting sues this website. Bibi has nothing to lose. She came here to make a living and will do anything to keep bread on her table. Why would she care if we fight each other till the death?

One day we will realize how much we need each other. And I hope it will not be too late. Think on Haiti. Imagine yourself going to bed at night, relieved after degrading another brother when in just a few seconds you are helpless under piles of rubble. As your hope to be rescued grows less, you hear the voice of this true brother outside frantically calling your name asking you if you are OK and promising it will be alright because he is coming to free you ....

My advice to those who were hurt because of the reporting, rumors and comments, is to walk with your head up high and keep smiling. Because deep in your heart you know you are not like them.

Avid reader i agree one way with you, but in this story it is said the man was arrested and send to curacao and even his picture was but up. This is not the same in that sharpless case. Something like that you check your source story first. smn was saying the man was arrested, this could have been check before you put up that story and picture. If he did it fine but if not he will always be seen as the one who did it by many, because of this story and picture been put up. That is the problem here. Smn cannot hide behind the fact that police are not giving information on the case. That does not justify putting up this story. Police does not work for SMN that they has to give her information . What she did was wrong and any country she would be in court for it. Freedom of the press does not mean you has the right to infringe on someone else rights. This is not the first time SMN did this. It is all about i publish it first.

I have followed with lots of interest the blog pertaining to this murder. The media like to get it's facts straight, but the prosecutors office are remaining tight lipped, however the police have friends in the media and anything that goes on in the police staiton is public. They receive extra money for calling in the media houses. The prosecutors office use the same method to highlight their victims. Imagine Gromyko was waiting for more than one hour at Holiday's house before the arrest team arrived to take pictures of his arrest. Who called Gromyko? Was it the prosecutors office that notified the daily herald or does Gromyko work on intuition ......yeah right. The Dutch wanted Holiday removed and it had to be publicly staged, so the population could see they got their man. So they use the media when they want to and close the door to the media when they feel like. Bibi is no fool, she knows when to move and how to move. If she has her insiders keeping her abreast, then go with the story. If the SMN-news is wrong, then she will lose all her credibility as a news organization.
This is the chance she is willing to take. Tell the prosecutors and the police to stop usine the media when they want and closing the door when they feel. This is my problem. I hope that clears the air on this article.

I dont blame the media here-I blame the Prosecutors and how Mr.Mud and Mr.Mos is handling info getting to the public.
It seems as if they they are giving zilch! What you get then is a lot of rumors in the community.
There is no reason to question this ex-police officer in Curacao-they must have some serious stuff on this man for them to actually take him to Curacao to be questioned. He could have been questioned right here like other so-called suspects or persons of interest.
My point is this-if they took him to Curacao-There must be some serious evidence for them to do that.
As for the commentators who made comments yesterday-I feel these comments were very racist against gays. This story is about a murder of a very well known and very well liked person in the community.
Yes, he was a gay man, he did not hide that fact. He is loved by many people in the community. But people have to stop writing gossip and including wives, girlfriends and by-sides of the police officer who is a suspect.
And I say a suspect because I KNOW the police will not pick up anyone and send them to Curacao to be isolated from their surroundings if they dont have some serious evidence on this person of interest.

Smn news is correct. GS turned himself in an gave a confession. Therefore there is not need to interrogate him cause he already confess. Secondly Ricardo Henson is right they did not arrest anyone, cause GS turned himself in. Sorry if the people reading the paper do not understand what they are reading.

I notice that it is difficult to get what people put on their mind out! What part of the police press release you all did not get? There is no one in custody for this crime; no arrest has been made. The person is out there going about their business.

The newspaper, the prosecutor office, the police department they all have to get the story the way it is before releasing any information from whoever. An example, The police or detectives cannot go to the media
and tell the media "we found fingerprints of Mr X at a particular crime seen, so we going to pick him/her up now to question him" Duh. Do you think that mr X will hang around and wait for the police ,after reading it or hearing it from the media?
PEOPLE LET THE LAW DO THEIR INVESTIGATION , IN DUE TIME WE WILL KNOW THE CLEAR FACTS ABOUT THIS PARTICULAR CASE. Not because a person hasn't been arrested does not mean they haven't been held for questioning. An arrest means that charges have been filed against them. But you can hold someone for questioning for several days.........

Let us all as a society stop with the pa*sing of judgement and wait and see, NOT ONE THING DONE IN THE DARK WILL STAY THERE.
