New ‘Resources 4 Community Resilience’ (R4CR) project organizes information sessions for NGOs.

PHILIPSBURG:--- R4CR is a recently signed project, financed under the Sint Maarten Recovery, Reconstruction and Resilience Trust Fund (SXM TF). R4CR aims to improve and strengthen the capacity of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) on Sint Maarten in their efforts to support reconstruction and resilience activities at the community level.

R4CR includes a Grant Scheme as a funding mechanism for community and social rehabilitation initiatives and focuses on the long term strengthening of these projects. In the next 4 years, R4CR will launch seven calls for proposals (grant application rounds) where local NGOs will be invited to submit project ideas that could be financed, provided that they meet a minimum set of criteria.

All non-profit organizations, such as the senior organizations, educational and youth-related programs (daycares, after school, PTAs, school boards, youth), social and faith-based organizations, sports, culture & art NGOs, service clubs, volunteer initiatives, environmental & animal care organizations and community councils, are just a number of examples of organizations where the R4CR project team is looking forward to meeting them sharing all details of this four-year project.

On Monday, August 31st, Tuesday, September 1st, and Wednesday, September 2nd, face-to-face information sessions will be organized in the outside auditorium of St. Dominic High school. Respecting the COVID-19 safety measures, there will be a limited number of attendees allowed per session. Therefore advanced registration is required. The meetings will start at 6:30 p.m. sharp and attendees need to wear a face mask. Participants need to submit their name(s), name of the organization, and preferred evening of attendance.

For those who are interested, but feel uncomfortable in attending a face-to-face session, there will be a virtual online zoom meeting on Thursday, September 3rd starting at 6:00 p.m.

During the information meetings, St. Maarten NGOs/ civil society organizations/ non-profits will receive general background information on the project, the set of guidelines, and how to apply for funding.
