PHILIPSBURG:--- Minister of Justice Anna Richardson announced on Wednesday that St. Maarten has received the draft report that the CFATF will publish in the near future. The report indicated that St. Maarten is now compliant with the CFATF. Minister Richardson said that the additional information St. Maarten provided to the CFATF at the end of April 2020 has given the island high praises of being compliant.
The Minister also announced that the Police Force of St. Maarten have ratted out a large car theft ring. The persons involved have been stealing cars and selling them back within the community at a fast rate. Thus the Minister called on residents to ensure those vehicle owners have all necessary documentation such as a bill of sale, last insurance policy, and inspection when selling a vehicle. Residents are also advised to pay keen attention when buying used vehicles since vehicular theft is on the rise.
