Two teenagers arrested for the breaking and entering of Supermarket.

~ Teenage suspects released to parents.~

PHILIPSBURG:--- Two minors that were caught on camera breaking into a Chinese Supermarket on Lime Road early Monday morning were arrested and released to their parents. SMN News understands that even though Police have the video with the two suspects breaking into the Supermarket on Lime Road they released them because of their ages and law protects these minors that are supposed to be supervised by their parents.
It is understood the supermarket was broken into during the early hours Monday morning when these youths were supposed to be in their homes under their parents’ guidance.
Lately, youths on St. Maarten are creating mayhem in society yet nothing is done to restrain these youths that that seemingly do not have proper guidance at home.
While the Police have outdated laws and are somehow not able to arrest minors that are committing crimes, it is the duty of the parents and guardians that have to ensure their children are at home especially during a time when governments are calling on everyone to stay indoors due to the spread of COVID-19.
One would ask if these parents are not also involved in what their children are doing. Certainly, the items they stole at 2 am Monday morning were taken to their homes, or wherever they live.
It is the duty of parents to raise their children as law-abiding citizens and the blame that oftentimes falls on the police and schools should be placed squarely at the feet of these children that lack proper training at home.
