Marigot:---Ever since the anonymous letter was sent to the Collectivity of St. Martin threatening the president and senator with death threats. SMN News learnt that the president has decided to have a personal bodyguard who walks around with his bulletproof vest. The bodyguard is no other that Patrick Paynes a member of Territorial Police.

SMN News learnt that President Gumbs is nervous since his life was threatened by authors of the letters. It is also understood that Gumbs is taking the matter seriously while he refused to accept full responsibility for the rising crime rate. So far, the president did not say if the COM is taking any responsibility towards the killing of Bertin-Maurice. Rigobert Bertin Maurice was also a contracted employee of the COM. Relatives of the now dead man had said he had signed a contract with the COM two days prior to his slaying.

On Thursday, security at the Collectivity increased due to a territorial council meeting that was in process. Several employees and council members made sure they left the COM the moment it began to get dark claiming they do not want to be around when there is any type of attack.

The president spoke at length about the threatening letters during the council meeting he also informed the councilors that one of the letters was sent to him and the senator in a pizza box.

The writer of the letter has given the president and senator until today (Monday November 30 2009) to pay the Euros 100, 000.00 to relatives of Rigobert Bertin-Maurice who was killed on September 24 2009 in the vicinity of the COM.

The perpetrator of the letter said the Collectivity is responsible for the death of Bertin Maurice since the killer Jean Marc Sharpless was instructed by a territorial police to park in a parking spot belonging to Bertin-Maurice a resident living opposite the COM.

In an invited comment leader of the opposition party Alain Richardson said death threats should be taken seriously. Richardson said while he does not know what has motivated the person or persons to write such a letter or to become this desperate, threatening the lives of other people is not acceptable.

Granted Mr. Sharpless did take the life of another. But why should the COM have to pay? Does the writer know the amount of times Mr. Sharpless was attacked by this same person. This killing wasn't over a parking space.
Had this little youth conducted himself as a decent member of the society this probably wouldnt have happened.
I understand the plight of the writer to get St. Martin cleaned up but remember this guy was apart of the same problem you are fighting for. So your automatically cancelling yourself out.

Yes, maybe that youth was part of the problem, but does that justify the cause for Mr. Sharpless to take his life? NO IT DOES NOT. To the anonymous writer, I hope they know that making such a threat is a serious offence. If it is a joke , I hope the right punishment will be met for that person, if found.

We need to deal with the issue head on ! what happen that night yes ! the Police Territoriale called Mr S*****less to inform him that a young man was vandelizing his car ! 1st mistake the law should of stopped the young man that is what the Police and Gendarmes are for they are the ones to make peace and carry out the laws of the République Francaise so if these law inforcers had done thier job then Mr S*** would not be in the seat he s in today but still is actions does not justify his anger
next point, and we need to be honest about this, if Mr S*** did do what he did, then he would of be 6 feet under today it has been an on going fight for months between the two young guys over and under ! so deal with it and move on please all this is personnal affairs that is taking center stage cause what folks that are paid to do a job are just driving around and collecting a pay that they dont deserve I said it and i mean it !!! whos to be blame ,?????

The Angel of Death writer is nothing more than a "coward joker". He have a family too. So if he think he can come make threats like that on our government and get away, he better think again. Now the entire family is under very high surveillance just because of this joker. All their internet activities and telephone communications are being monitored.

The family of Mr. Maurice have to speak up and put a stop to all of this. They have to come on this site and or publicly denounce the letter writer"s actions. They are the ones to bring back serenity to this whole affair.
To Mr. Joker, this is a serious matter no need for you to enrage the person(s) of the letter. Please stop antagonizing this person for the sake of those that he sent the letters to, namely Mr. Gumbs and Mr. Fleming and their families. You people cannot feel what they are going through, so stop it.

Law and Order in SXM

Time for some Ivory Coast -style law and order from these young freshly broken in Gendarmes. Send them over here and let's get some law and order in SXM. I bet a team of 20 of them could have all the drugs off the streets in a weeks or two.

The death threat is completely out of order, but the wanton disregard for law and order, the overt drug trafficking, the writer of the threat alludes to , are very real.

We need law enforcement.
