Philipsburg: --- The SOAB has submitted its final report on the investigation they were conducting on the department of ROB. SMN News has been reliably informed that the two members of the management team had 10 days on which they were to respond to the report.

It is further understood that the department head and its subordinate had requested extra time to complete their answers, which was eventually submitted. SMN News further learnt that the final summary of the report was submitted to the island Lt. Governor Franklyn Richards and leader of government William Marlin. The source said the final report is expected to be delivered sometime this week.

SMN News was informed that those responsible are planning to file criminal charges against those working in the department and were implicated in the report.

SMN News learnt that the report presented by SOAB would have far-reaching consequences on persons applying for building permits. The source said if for some reason a homeowner decides to change the size of their windows, from what is in their permit they would have to re-process their building permits. “the way it is outlined in this report construction would definitely seize and no-one would not be able to build based on the guidelines.”

Some of the findings in the report were outlined in the preliminary report which was issued some months ago advising the executive council to hire an interim manager to manage the department. The investigators in their preliminary report had made it clear that the laws were not followed in the handling of building permits.

Efforts made to contact the island Lt. Governor Franklyn Richards and commissioner Theo Heyliger for a comment proved futile up to press time.

The questions is, will the EXCO or the govenor take the report and make some harsh decision to relocate or retire those civil servants who were identified as being not good for the management team, Some heads have to role. I believe some one or persons needs to be held accountable for their actions or inactions. ROB and all related departments have to step up.
Let's not make getting building permints and or inspections more cumbersome, but more efficient.

The report is a complete joke as ALL their allegations are based on HEAR SAYm and nothing is bbased on factual eveidence. So once again here we go making peoples lives turend upside down without any type of proof. Criminal charges is the biggest joke out of all. In the preliminary reports NOT ONE incident that could have criminal consequenses were mentioned unless they fabricated those since the last draft. But then again when you want to shaft someone all you have to do on this island is spread a rumopr and eventually it becomes the truth. I know so many examples of this that it's becoming cynical.

Here we go again, sxmers are the ones that will suffer from this move. We cant build a little house for our family anymore. I believe too many young sxmers/foreigners have too many big houses in the hills. Those with the money/clout dont like that, so lets lock them up, stop others from building, and we will be in control again. "Young" people be on the look out. Not every grin teeth is a smile.

I do believe the SOAB report outlines corruption within the ROB -Public Works department relating to LARGE developments.
The issue here is not about building a single family home. The corrupted ones were making money off of Blue Mall, Travel Inn, The Arab bus company in Cay Hill, other developments in Oyster Bay etc. foreigners who wanted their permits quick and easy
