EXCLUSIVE: Is the Prosecutor investigating the possible bribes to MP Channel Brownbill.?

meyersbrownbill29082019~MP Meyers said agreements were made prior to 2018 elections with Brownbill to appoint VROMI Minister.~

PHILIPSBURG:--- Questions are now being raised by several persons in the community about the recent revelation by MP Franklin Meyers on Oral Gibbes Live when he said that an agreement was made between the politicians to allow MP Chanel Brownbill to appoint the Minister of VROMI when he pulled his support from the NA/DP/ USP coalition government in 2017 post-hurricane IRMA and MARIA.
Meyers made that statement among several other things that were conducted by St. Maarten longest talk show host Oral Gibbes.
Clearly, the MPs violated article 56 of the country’s constitution when they took the oat and nothing has been done thus far to hold Members of Parliament that are busy taking or giving bribes to their colleagues and or constituents accountable.

On accepting their appointment Members of Parliament take the following oath (declaration and affirmation) before the Governor: ‘I swear (declare) that I have not given or promised anything to anyone whosoever, directly or indirectly, under any name or pretext whatsoever, in connection with my election as a Member of Parliament, nor shall I do so. I swear (affirm), that I shall not accept any pledge or gift of any description from any person whatsoever, directly or indirectly, in order to take or refrain from any action of any description in this position. I swear (affirm) my loyalty to the King and the Charter for the Kingdom, that I shall always help to uphold the Constitution of Sint Maarten and shall support the welfare of Sint Maarten to the best of my ability. So help me God (This I declare and affirm)!’

Based on that agreement the Governor of St. Maarten sworn in Minister Miklos Giterson who subsequently resigned after being convicted for DUI.
On Friday the Governor of St. Maarten will be swearing in Chris Wever based on the same agreement made by MP Channel Brownbill. It is left to be seen if the Governor of St. Maarten will uphold the constitution knowing that the MP that appointed Wever clearly violated Article 56 of the constitution upon taking the oat before him.
In 2018, MP Theodore Heyliger was prosecuted for offering bribes to former MP Romain LaVille. Heyliger was accused of offering bribes to LaVille to also throw down an NA led government. The so-called Catfish investigation dealt with Heyliger offering bribes to LaVille. Other suspects were Gerry Sardine, the then-campaign manager of former MP Romain LaVille and Boykie Mendez and close friend of Heyliger.
The investigation against Heyliger began in 2013 when LaVille and former MP Patrick Illidge filed complaints against Heyliger for offering to bribe them.
It is left to be seen if the Prosecutor’s Office that is busy with its witch-hunting will launch an investigation on the Brownbill bribery schemes as he breaks and makes government.
