PHILIPSBURG: --- Former journalist Alita Singh that worked at the two newspapers on St. Maarten as the political reporter has now been appointed to work at the Integrity Chamber with Raphael Boasman.
Singh a close friend of former UD Leader Theodore Heyliger managed to secure the position which has already been signed off by Quarter Master of the Integrity Chamber Raphael Boasman. Singh was interviewed and screened in Curacao for the position of Public Relations. Questions are now being raised on the screening process since Singh was paid by UPP/ UD leader Theodore Heyliger to write releases for him while being a reporter of the Daily Newspapers. Singh was also paid by the Harbor Group of Companies while holding the harbor affairs portfolio while working for the Daily Herald.
Singh already resigned from the local publishing company on St. Maarten mid- August. Singh a Guyanese born national secured her Dutch nationality recently.
Several calls placed to Raphael Boasman for comment on the appointment could not be reached as he did not respond to phone calls.
Politicians on St. Maarten are scratching their heads on the appointment since Singh had confidential conversations and was even close friends with some politicians who today can use the information she acquired as a journalist against them. Besides that Singh is not fluent in the Dutch language as she failed the Dutch examinations several times prior to acquiring her Dutch Nationality.
Sources say that while Singh submitted her resignation she is still employed at the Daily Herald and remains on their payroll.
