Tropical Storm Dorian Moving Away from Sint Maarten.

dorianerin28082019PHILIPSBURG (DCOMM):---The Meteorological Department of Sint Maarten (MDS) said on Wednesday in its 11.00AM Special Weather Bulletin that Tropical Storm Dorian is expected to move away from Sint Maarten during the course of the day.

Dorian at 11.00AM was located 105 miles south-southwest of the country. Dorian at the moment is moving near the U.S. and the British Virgin Islands.

The MDS adds that showers, thunderstorms and gusty winds are expected from the outer bands of the storm.

According to the 11.00AM bulletin: Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 80 miles from the center. Maximum sustained winds are near 70 miles per hour.

The Fire Department/Office of Disaster Management reminds the populace that we are in the peak of the hurricane season and to make sure they have their hurricane preparatory plans in place in the event of a future storm/hurricane threat to the nation.
