PHILIPSBURG:--- On Sunday 11th of August, 2019 The St. Maarten South Leo Club collaborated with The Fundashon Korsow Uni to in organizing a "Fresh & Cool" Back to School project. The project entailed providing backpacks filled with school supplies and give hairdos and haircuts to boys & girls between the ages of 6 to 12 at the St. Martin of Tours Parish hall in Philipsburg. This is just one of the many initiatives that the Leo club has planned for this year. It is great to see smiles on the kids’ faces as we assist them in preparing to look fresh and cool for the start of the 2019-2020 school year.
In addition, we would like to thank the following persons for their assistance with this project, it could not have been a success without them, and for that, we are truly grateful:
I.C.E.; with their generous donation we were able to purchase the school bags.
The volunteer braiders Teresa Roberts, Everlyne Walters (Ebonny Empress), Deidra Williams and Kishaya Mc Calla who had given the girls their beautiful hairstyles. The barbers that skillfully gave the boys their haircuts.
The braiders and barbers ensured that approximately 56 kids went to school on Monday August 12, 2019 with freshly done hair.
Thanks to Malia Engelhart for her generous donation of the backpack that we raffled for a lucky student.
The Fundashon Korsow Uni for allowing us to join them on the task of providing the kids a great start to the school year.
The St. Maarten Lion’s club for their continuous support in our endeavors.
We from the St. Maarten South Leo club would like to wish all students a successful 2019-2020 school year.
