~PM instructed Supervisory Board to renew the contract for the management board, if not she will get rid of them.~
PHILIPSBURG: --- Two members of the management board of GEBE were forced to take their vacation days instead of a payout when their contract comes to an end in October.
According to well-placed sources within the company, the Supervisory Board of Directors sent the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Kenrick Chittick and the Chief Operations Officer (COO) Veronica Webster Jansen on their vacation days prior to the end of their contract. The source said that the Supervisory Board received their advice from the internal auditor Sharine Daniel who is at odds with Chittick. Webster- Jensen is already back on the job while Chittick is still on vacation.
Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Iris Arrindell is under severe stress because she is not allowed to invest in projects. Sources say Daniel is blocking Arrindell from any type of investment knowing that her contract will soon end. The Supervisory Board of Directors already informed the management board namely, Kenrick Chittick, Veronica Webster Jenson, and Iris Arrindell that their contracts will not be renewed, as stipulated by law that they must receive at least three months’ notice.
It is further understood that the Prime Minister of St. Maarten Leona Romeo Marlin dispatched a letter to the Supervisory Board instructing them that they must renew the contracts for the members of the management team if not she will find ways to get rid of them. The source further states that several Members of Parliament are in support of extending the contracts for the management team as two of them were candidates and supporters of the United Peoples Party (UPP) led by Theodore Heyliger.
CEO demanded that Daniel repay GEBE its money granted to her for studies.
SMN News learned that the CEO Kenrick Chittick requested that Daniel repay GEBE some $400,000.00 to because she has not lived up to the agreement she made with the company in June 2015.
SMN News understands that when Daniel negotiated her contract it was agreed upon that GEBE will pay for her to continue her studies in order for her to obtain her doctorate within three years however, Daniel has not met the deadline she agreed upon and is scheduled to finalize her studies by January 2020. Daniel also agreed that after she obtained her degree, she would serve GEBE for several years, and while Daniel is still studying at GEBE’s expense she applied for the Deputy Director’s position at USZV, meaning she breached the agreement she has with GEBE and thus she should repay the company what it invested in her.
SMN News learned that GEBE would normally credit Daniel’s account with the agreed amount for her studies in order for her to make the payments to her school, Daniel has since been filing her taxes declaring that she is the one financing her education and have been receiving tax breaks.
While Sharine Daniel is busy seeking to obtain the position at USZV she is also seeking to obtain the CEO position at GEBE where she holds a full-time job. SMN News understands that Daniel was promised the position by the Supervisory Board members whom she is advising and even writing their letters to the management team and the shareholder representative. SMN News understands that Daniel even gathered documents and prepared a report for the Supervisory Board to show transactions made by the management team. Sources close to the internal auditor said that Daniel has since threatened that she will take her report and documents to the Prosecutor’s Office if the Prime Minister insists on having the contracts for the management team renewed.
It should be noted that this is not the first time Daniel is seeking to replace Chittick as she almost did when the former Minister of VROMI Christopher Emmanuel agreed to appoint her to the position, but it was shot down by then Prime Minister William Marlin.
SMN News further learned that Daniel has been using her staff at GEBE to conduct work for private companies and on GEBE’s time. Sources say that the company’s internal auditor went as far as calling GEBE’s staff that work on disconnection and ordered them to reconnect some businesses electricity and water even though payments were not made.
