PHILIPSBURG:---: Mrs. Veronica Lugg Smith was bowled over when she learned that she had won $17,260 on the Lucky Pick game. At first, she found it hard to believe.
“Is it me? Did I really win?” was the question Mrs. Lugg Smith repeatedly asked, after her husband, who normally checks the tickets, told her that she had won. When she realized that it was true, she exclaimed simply: “Thank you, Jesus!”
The delighted winner said that she had never given up, despite not winning for some time. “I knew that one day would be my lucky day,” she stressed. “Even though I have lost in the past, I kept on playing. I never stopped.” She described her philosophy: “I always believed that ‘today might not be yours, but tomorrow may just be your lucky day.’”
Site Operations Manager at Caribbean Lottery Paula Williams wished the determined player every success with her winnings. “We are so impressed by Mrs. Lugg Smith’s persistence and extend our warmest congratulations to her,” she said. “At Caribbean Lottery, we are always thrilled to make our winners’ dreams come true.”
“I can’t help but feel excited, thankful and blessed to have won,” Mrs. Lugg Smith enthused. The winning numbers represented dates with special meanings for her, she noted. “They are bittersweet, yet important dates cherished from those closest to me.”
She pointed out that she had lost her house during Hurricane Irma in 2017. “Winning this jackpot will allow me to save, and eventually rebuild,” said Mrs. Lugg Smith. “For now, I will put my winnings in my bank account.”
She offered some wise advice to Caribbean Lottery players: “Don’t give up. Your lucky day is coming!”
