Sarah comes back with two motions.

sarahwescot23032017PHILIPSBURG:--- Member of Parliament Sarah Wescott Williams and current leader of the United Democrats presented two motions after lecturing the government. Wescot Williams asked the government for a host of things but also indicated to her government that they need not rush to give her the documents and or answers today but at some later date.
In concluding her speech Wescot Williams presented two motions, the first one is towards the reassessment of the CFT and its functions since the CFT is guarded by law which does not consider the economic situation of the country. That The parliament of St. Maarten considers since the constitutional reform on October 10th 2010 that the Netherlands would have assisted St. Maarten and Curacao with debt relief.
Also considered that the CFT is guided by two boards one for the BES islands and the CFT for Curacao and St. Maarten which is geared at financial supervision. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) in its report of January 15th 2019 concluded that CFT austerity measures are counterproductive imposition on Curacao will be counterproductive to the economy of that island. The parliament of St. Maarten therefore resolves that St. Maarten will reanalyze the role of the CFT and its modus operandi.
The second motion Wescot Williams presented dealt with the additional conditions applied by the Netherlands on the Liquidity Support and the interference by the Netherlands in the affairs of parliament, one being by forcing the government of St. Maarten to add cuts that would affect the Members of Parliament, one being the reduction of their salary which is guarded by law and that a simple amendment to this law would need two thirds of the parliament of St. Maarten. That the Netherlands is busy circumventing the oversight role of St. Maarten. The motion continue to state that the fringe benefits for MPS and Ministers must be eliminated including their vacation allowance and restricting the travelling delegation to two.
