Minister Johnson presented with Summons booklet.

johnsonbooklet19062019PHILIPSBURG:--- The Minister of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport and Telecommunications (Ministry TEATT), Hon. Stuart Johnson, was presented on July 19th with a sample of the newly printed OPVs (oproepings bij process verbaal) or a summons book on behalf of the Public Prosecutor.

The presentation was made by Head of the Inspectorate of TEATT, Lucien Wilson. The Pro Justitia summons offers the extraordinary police officers of Ministry TEATT with a means to offer a fixed fine on behalf of the Public Prosecutor.

The OPV’s have already been put to use by the department in their daily enforcement activities.

The Inspectorate has issued fines to public transportation operators (whether a permit holder or not) as well as persons found vending with or without a permit.

Fine amounts vary between ANG100 for vending without a permit up to ANG500 for engaging public transportation without a permit by the Minister of TEATT.

These fine amounts are only for first time offenders. Repeat offenders will be dealt with by the Public Prosecutor directly.

The Inspectorate therefore reminds the general public to abide by the applicable laws as the Inspectorate is taking a zero-tolerance policy towards offenders.
