THE VALLEY ANGUILLA:--- The 29-year-old St. Martin resident identified as Renita Catherine Emmanuel was arrested in Anguilla and charged with theft and conspiracy to theft while going equipped to steal and in possession of Criminal property.
Emmanuel a Collectivity was part of the months-long strike on the French side of this island hoping that she would have been made a permanent civil servant. The Royal Anguilla Police Force posted on their Facebook page the press release outlining the charges Emmanuel is facing.
Renita Cathrine Emmanuel 29 yr. old female of St James, St Martin was arrested and charged for the offences of Theft, Conspiracy to Theft, Going equipped to Steal and Possession of Criminal Property.
Miss Emmanuel appeared before the magistrate court on Monday 27th May 2019 where the charges were read to her, bail was denied and she was remanded to Her Majesty Prison, to return to court on Monday 12th August 2019.
The RAPF would like to remind the public that:
a) The defendant is entitled to a fair trial;
b) There is a presumption of innocence until proven guilty;
c) Nothing would be stated or published which would prejudice a fair trial taking place; and
d) Section 115(g) of the Criminal Code applies and which provides for an offence in respect of any person who, while a judicial proceeding is pending, makes use of any speech or writing misrepresenting such proceeding or capable of prejudicing any person in favor of or against any parties to such proceeding, or calculated to lower the authority of any person before whom the proceeding is to be held.
