Minister Johnson calls on business community and visitors to support Nature Foundation Conservation Projects.

stuartj22032019PHILIPSBURG:--- The St. Maarten Nature Foundation is seeking assistance from the local business community, tour operators, hotels and trade organizations to promote the environmental organizations donation page.

The Nature Foundation would like to create more awareness about its projects and environmental efforts by informing visitors to the island who in turn may want to contribute towards the conservation efforts of the local body.

Minister of Tourism & Economic Affairs Stuart Johnson is calling the aforementioned entities to assist the Nature Foundation in reaching its conservation goals.

The Nature Foundation page for donations is: sintmaarten.reefsupport.org

The funds generated through donations goes directly towards the management and maintenance of the marine protected area and projects such as reducing single-use plastics.

“The Nature Foundation plays a very important role in our community with the aim to preserve and enhance the natural environment of the country for generations to come.

“They are very active in organizing a number of activities annually including educational awareness activities within schools and throughout the community along with research and monitoring projects.

“The Nature Foundation also manages the country’s marine resources such as the Man of War Shoal National Marine Park, the only designated nature park area.

“The marine resources of the country where diving is prevalent is a sector that is valued around US$50 million annually to the Gross Domestic Product of the country.

“The business community and visitors giving back to such an organization is one way of assisting the good work that is being done by the Nature Foundation and this source of funding would be a sustainable way for the foundation to continue and expand its conservation activities,” Minister of Tourism & Economic Affairs Stuart Johnson said on Thursday.

This opportunity will be beneficial for our beautiful island as our main focus is to preserve and enhance nature while in the process strengthening the economic and educational value and potential of our natural resources.

The Nature Foundation can be contacted by email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., in case you are interested in exposing the donation page or if you have any more questions.
