BKE’s Storytelling program kicked off.

bkestorytelling26032019PHILIPSBURG:--- The Storytelling training of Beyond Kultura Events Foundation has kicked off last weekend. 14 Storyteller participants have subscribed to the program. 12 schools, 2 community centers and 1 children home have also engaged in the program. The participants consist of mainly women from our society, who are very interested in Storytelling as part of our Caribbean culture. They have gotten a full weekend training on the theory from author-storyteller Diana Lebacs, who has told them about the history of Storytelling, the storyboard, and other techniques to how they can master to create stories and to tell stories in a captivating way, using their voices, body language and fantasy as effective as possible.
Most participants have nice memories of storytelling when they were kids. Family members used to tell a lot of stories to each other; parents and grandparents used to tell their life stories to them.
‘The participants have closed off the theoretical part and are entering the practical phase of the project. They will conduct 10 storytelling sessions in schools, community centers, and children homes. Furthermore, they will have to organize a storytelling event for children in groups. 3 observers/coachers will grade them during the practical phase. After fulfilling all the assignments with sufficient scores, they can be certificated with a ‘basic Storytelling-Expression’ certificate,’ Loekie Morales, president of the BKE has stated in a press release.
