Attorney at Law Sjamira Roseburg confirmed to SMN News that her client was taken to St. Maarten Medical Center because he was feeling unwell. Roseburg said that she went to SMMC to see her client when she was informed that her client was taken to SMMC, “When I reached SMMC I was denied access to see my client as the guard there told me that management would have to give approval before I can see my client. I called the Prison and the Minister’s Office to inform them that my client rights have been violated and that the law clearly states that Attorneys must have access to their clients at all times. It took more than an hour before I finally get to see my client even though I contacted the Prosecutor’s Office.” Roseburg said. Roseburg said the Prosecutor's Office agreed with her that Attorneys must be able to see their clients at all time. "This evening during visiting hours the Prison Guard denied the wife of my client the opportunity to visit her husband even though the Prosecutor's Office gave her permission to see her husband who is currently a patient at the St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC)." The guard told Mrs. Sprott that she could only visit her husband on Thursday. "My client has to remain in the hospital for further tests.
Roseburg said her client will remain at SMMC as he needs to receive further treatment.
