EXCLUSIVE: PM Leona Marlin 2 cabinet wants Henderson Insurances to reimburse money paid for services.

PHILIPSBURG:--- Prime Minister Leona Marlin Romeo has dispatched a letter to Henderson Insurances on September 14th, 2018 informing him that even though the former  NA led Government hired him to assist with the insurances for government-owned properties and vehicles that were damaged by hurricane Irma, the current Council of Ministers chose another company and as such government will not be using his services, therefore she wants Henderson to provide a report on the work he did thus far if any.
The letter sent to Henderson also stated that the former government had paid him NAF100,000.00 based on government’s records.
SMN News further learned that the Council of Ministers is seeking to get a reimbursement from Henderson since they have not received satisfactory results as the claim with NAGICO has not been settled. Negotiations with NAGICO and Henderson was ongoing when NAGICO and Henderson Insurances were informed of the decision taken by the current government.
SMN News further learned that Minister of VSA Emil Lee, during the Council of Ministers meeting  where the decision was taken to hire Henderson Insurances, was not in favor of hiring a local company and he is the one that sought out a company in the United States. It is understood that Lee objected when the National Alliance led government hired Henderson Insurances as a local expert in the field of claims and other insurance settlements.
On September 14th, 2018 the Prime Minister also sent a letter to NAGICO informing them that the Government of St. Maarten hired Smith Oloff and requested that NAGICO gives the selected adjuster their full cooperation.
It should be noted that while Government Buildings including police station, various schools buildings, and government-owned vehicles  that are still not repaired the current Council of Ministers are busy finalizing the high fees they intend to pay Smith Oloff for their services which were not acquired through an open and transparent bidding process, but rather this company was hand-picked by the Prime Minister of which it is alleged government will be paying a double service fee in these crucial times where the government is cash-strapped with limited financial resources.
