GEBE apologizes for island wide blackout.

PHILIPSBURG:--- In a press release from NV GEBE, the company apologizes to the community of St. Maarten, who were inconvenienced and affected during the island wide blackout that occurred on April 23, 2018, at around 10:55PM. NV GEBE Officials stated that one of its large engine experienced a failure due to low engine cooling water pressure. Each engine is equipped with sensors to protect the engines from damages and as a result of the low cooling water pressure the sensors were activated after which the plant then experienced a cascading effect shutting down all units. The engineers and technicians at the power plant went into immediate action to rectify the problem. Power was restored to the Cay Hill area first with all other areas being restored before 1:02AM. Once again the company takes this time to apologize for any inconvenience this island wide black out caused.
