Ministry VSA hosts National Employment Registration Drive.

PHILIPSBURG (DCOMM):--- Ministry VSA will be hosting a National Employment Registration Drive during the course of this week. The goal of the drive is to determine how many workers have lost their job or are working less hours as a direct result of the devastating impact of hurricane Irma on the local labor market. The Ministry intends to use the data collected to develop programs and projects to further assist the unemployed and underemployed persons within the community.

Dutch Nationals, Permanent Residence holders, and Temporary Residence holders who need full or part-time work are invited to participate in the upcoming registration drive in order to be eligible to participate in the upcoming projects and programs to be executed in collaboration with International Organizations. One such program is to be organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The objective of the program is to hire 500 unskilled and skilled workers at varying wages, depending on expertise.

VSA will also be executing the Personal Incentives for Economic Recovery Program (PIER) within short to provide temporary employment, training and education to unemployed or underemployed individuals by participating in various social and relief projects within their respective communities.

The Ministry, during the drive, will inquiry about general information from job seekers regarding their overall employment and social situation as a direct result of losing their employment or working fewer hours. The Ministry will not use or share the information outside the scope of the National Ordinance Personal Data Protection, as such all results of the survey will be stored in a password protected digital file.

The registration drive will take place at the Department of Labor Affairs & Social Services, New Government Building from Monday, February 26, 2018, through Friday, March 2nd, 2018 from 2 pm until 5 pm.

The Department of Labor Affairs encourages all jobseekers to take this opportunity to register, it is of the utmost importance. Attendees should ensure that they have a valid form of identification in order to register. It is the intension of the Ministry to host a second phase of the job info drive. During the second phase jobseekers will be able to register at the community center in their respective neighborhood.

The National Employment Registration Drive is a collaborative effort of the Ministry of Public Health Social Development & Labor and United National Development Programme (UNDP).
