Carnival booth holder meeting on Thursday.

PHILIPSBURG:--- The St. Maarten Carnival Development Foundation (SCDF) is inviting all selected booth holders for Carnival 2018 to a very important Carnival planning meeting.

The meeting will be held on Thursday, February 8 at the Carl & Sons Unique Inn (Blue Room) and will begin at 7:00pm.

Annually the foundation hosts three planning meetings with the booth holders to ensure that all rules and regulations are clear. This will be the second of the three meeting. The first was held in December.

President of the SCDF Alston Lourens said Carnival 2018, in particular, requires the cooperation of all Carnival stakeholders including booth holders. He explained that Carnival Village will still bear the scars inflicted by Hurricane Irma, so there are some inevitable operational changes that will be put into effect.

"We are all trying to host a festival that will be as memorable as any other even with the damage hurricane Irma has inflicted on the Village. Carnival Village is the heart & soul of St. Maarten Carnival. We will get it ready as best we could, but it will require cooperation from everyone," he said.

All booth holders are urged to make time to attend the meeting.
