SXM DOET urges organizations to register their projects.

sxmdoet09012018PHILIPSBURG:--- March 9 & 10, 2018, SXM DOET, the largest volunteer initiative in the Kingdom, will be back for its fourth edition. Now, more than ever, is the time for community-oriented organizations to register with SXM DOET. All interested NGOs are invited to sign up to get pending projects off the ground that they previously have not been able to, or to register newly needed projects due to destruction caused by hurricane Irma. These projects can be in the scope of (re)building, but also social outings, creating green spaces, setting up playgrounds, and many more possibilities. As long as the organization itself or their clients benefit from the project. Once the project is online, volunteers can start signing up to lend a hand during the SXM DOET days. The SXM DOET Project Management Team can further assist by any means necessary.

The SXM DOET Project Management Team also wants to remind any interested organizations – local foundations, schools, clubs, community centers, amongst many others - that they are able to apply for funding for their registered projects. The funding request deadline is set to January 31, 2018. A grant of USD 650,00 is available to all registered organizations, per project location, on a first come – first serve basis. It is therefore recommended to all to register and submit a request before months end.

The goal of SXM DOET is to ensure that locally existing organizations successfully execute a project, one they have not yet been able to, which benefits themselves, and in turn, the community. Last year over 1300 volunteers completed over 70 projects in two days. Following the devastation caused by Hurricane Irma on Sept. 6, 2017, the team expects that that now more than ever organizations will need that extra support and are recommended to make use of this great opportunity.

Registering projects and applying for funding can all be done through www.sxmdoet.com. If organizations have any questions or need help signing up, they are welcome to call the team for assistance.
