Minister Henrietta Doran-York attends last Kingdom Council of Ministers meeting and maybe last meeting as Minister Plenipotentiary of Sint Maarten.

ministersplenipotentiarysxmcuraruba22122017THE HAGUE, Netherlands:--- Last Friday, the Minister Plenipotentiary of Sint Maarten, H.E. Ms. Henrietta Doran-York, addressed the Kingdom Council of Ministers (Curacao, Aruba, Sint Maarten and Holland), in what was probably the last meeting that she would participate in during her tenure as Minister Plenipotentiary.
Minister Doran-York stated that due to the fact the new interim government is slated to be installed very soon, once all goes according to their schedule, and the next Kingdom Council of Ministers meeting will be next year, she used the opportunity to address the chairman and the other ministers in this regard.
The minister expressed in the meeting, that her tenure over the last 2 years as Sint Maarten’s representative in The Netherlands, was very interesting and informative. There where the times that the countries within the Kingdom on many occasions did not see eye to eye with one another, but attempted to do all within their power to resolve the issues.
Minister Doran-York made it crystal clear when she emphasized the fact that she remains 100% fully behind the current outgoing Government of St. Maarten, and in particular the former Prime Minister Mr. William Marlin and the stance that he took in the aftermath of hurricane Irma.
She told the Kingdom Council of Ministers, that despite being very thankful for all the help received, after the passing of the hurricanes Irma and Maria, her advice is to try and improve the communication and cooperation with, and between the Kingdom Partners.
She called on everyone present in the meeting to leave the past in the past and start looking towards the future of the Kingdom. “Only if all countries start learning from each other and are able and willing to especially respect and empathize with one another, can living together in one Kingdom become a success”, Minister Doran-York concluded.
