PHILIPSBURG:--- Crocs, a part of The Boolchand Group, donated 60 kids shoes valued at $2000 to, Sr. Marie Laurence School, through the assistance of K1 Brittania Foundation on December 15, 2017. The school is located in Middle Region which was devastated by Hurricane Irma.
Working alongside the K1 Britannia Trust, the K1 Britannia Foundation of St. Maarten focuses extensively on a variety of maritime and other charitable projects in St Maarten, with a major focus on the social issues faced by troubled youth on the island and the surrounding areas.
An additional $400 worth of women’s shoes were donated on December 17, 2017 to Safe Haven staff and residents to better support them in their efforts for those who desire assistance. Safe Haven Foundation provides programs, services, and shelter to women who are in abusive relationships with nowhere to go. The foundation was established in 1998 as an outcry from SXM community after a domestic violence resulted in deaths of women in the community.
Cassandra Richardson, a representative for Safe Haven, said “Crocs are comfortable and a pleasure to wear for long periods of time while providing protection from slipping and falling. We plan to add the donation to the welcome and care package given to each new resident that seek the sheltering services of Safe Haven. It will also help remove that occupational hazard and the staff at Safe Haven will be happy for the added security to help them move around freely to better assist our residents.” Safe Haven Foundation is 24 hour/7 days a week shelter. Besides shelter, they provide counseling, practical and referral support, community awareness and education, and advocacy.
